We arrived in Malta today, but this time, we came with a plan: no tourist traps, no ancient ruins, and absolutely no car rentals. If you caught our last Malta post, you’ll remember that Baba and I almost got divorced during a 2 a.m. drive along pitch-black, windy roads on the wrong side of the street.
(Spoiler alert: we didn’t actually split up, but we did learn our limits.)
So this time? Uber. Always Uber. It felt luxurious to hand over the wheel and leave the driving and the stress to someone else.
The only thing on our agenda was doing nothing, in style. Before our trip, we booked a private gazebo at Café del Mar, a sleek pool club in Qawra perched dramatically above the rocks and sea. The infinity pool is massive, the views are stunning, and the crowd? Think European Instagram models in designer sunglasses and every 26-year-old “entrepreneur” you’ve ever scrolled past.

A live DJ kept the beats going, the cocktails were cold, and the best part? No kids under 13 allowed. Honestly, that alone was worth the price of admission. It’s definitely not our usual scene, but we leaned into the vibe: part Ibiza, part influencer fantasy and enjoyed our front-row seat to the unofficial runway show of the Mediterranean.
Verdict: If you’re in Malta and want to relax in a picture-perfect setting while people-watching the TikTok generation, Café del Mar is your place. Just leave your car (and your expectations of humility) at the door.
