The hardest part with the pandemic for our family was being grounded from travel. We had two big trips set in 2020, one to the Thailand and Singapore and another to Morocco and Spain. Being stuck at home was tricky, but not being able to hop on a plane and see the world was missing in our lives. When Baba and I were able to be vaccinated and Israel allowed only its citizens to visit, we knew this was our chance to hop on a plane again and so we did! In June 2021, we flew United direct to Tel Aviv. The girls and I were used to wearing a mask all them time while at school, but for Baba it would be trickier. Being the COVID conscious mom that I am, we all doubled masked in the airport and the girls wore face shields since they weren’t vaccinated. The trip was the beginning of traveling in the pandemic for us, and the beginning of COVID testing that soon became a part of life. On this trip alone with all of the testing requirements, we tested five times. Although we had hoped to travel to a new destination, we loved every minute and took advantage of being tourists in country that still was not open to them.
