We are back in Milwaukee now, but I had to post about our last day in Copenhagen!
Everyone is feeling good and we have a beautiful 75 degree day to enjoy. When we visited earlier this month, we had tried to climb the tower of the Church of Our Savior, but had not been able to. This tower is unique because half of the stairs are outside and wrap around to the top of the tower. If it is windy or rainy, the tower is closed as it is too slippery and unstable. We finally had a beautiful sunny day and we headed straight to the tower after breakfast. The first half of the tower is comprised of old wooden steep steps; different than the stone and metal steps in all the other towers that we visited. Throughout the tower and upon entering there are several reminders that smoking is prohibited. Once we climbed 200+ steps we arrived at a very narrow doorway that opened to a slanted metal viewing platform and another staircase- this one made of metal encased only with a 3 ft tall railing. Many people behind us couldn’t even step out on the platform and descended right back down, but being the adventure seekers that we are (at least the girls and I), the four of us climbed the rest of the way up. We all agreed that a very brief photo op was in order and we should make our way down.

With our hearts pumping and adrenaline rushing, we headed to Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park that was Walt Disney’s inspiration for his parks. Unfortunately for O, she wasn’t tall enough to go on all the rides, specifically the big drop and roller coaster, but she still enjoyed herself! M even tried the kiddie drop for the first time and also had a blast.

It was now the adults turn to choose the activity, so we headed back to Torvelhalle Market to Laura’s Bakery and this time we made sure to snap a photo. We got two cinnamon chocolate danishes and a kartoffelkake, a mashed potato cake which in fact has no potatoes but is rather made up of layers of marzipan, cake cream and whipped cream topped with cocoa powder (thank goodness for our 24,000+ steps and this time I did get a picture).

We had an awesome last day in Copenhagen and an amazing month in Europe and look forward to our next family adventure...!
